Gregory Aziz: Railroad Rebirth

If you were alive over one hundred years ago then you likely saw the boom of the railroad industry. That industry alone has created some of the most wealthy and successful people whose families continue to be in the eyes of success to this day. Take the Vanderbilt’s for instance. Cornelius Vanderbilt built his wealth and fortune on railroads and shipping and to this day, continues to remain the 8th wealthiest man in America, despite him having lived over 100 years ago.

There’s clearly something to an industry that is so powerful, and it feels as though it’s nearly indestructible, so it would be equally hard to imagine breaking into. That’s exactly what Gregory James Aziz accomplished in the 90’s and continues to accomplish today, with National Steel Cars. While the railroad industry hasn’t necessarily disappeared or died in need of a rebirth, every industry has its up’s and downs when it comes to cultural relevancy.

Gregory James Aziz was born in London, Ontario where he grew up to attend college at the University of Western Ontario. He majored in economics, and later took his knowledge to his family’s whole sale food company, Affiliated Foods. Throughout the 70’s and early 80’s, Aziz aided his family in the growth of their company, as they eventually expanded to the worldwide market place, now distributing throughout The United States and Eastern, Canada.

While he may have learned a lot here, he was ready for new success and took his dreams to New York for promising investment banking opportunities. In New York, he helped organize the purchase of the company, further solidifying his rightful spot as the leader of National Steel Car. It was here, he realized the company’s potential for growth and with expansions in engineers and a boost of investments, the company’s numbers well over doubled. In fact, they over quadrupled by 1999, which was only 5 years after he took the company over. Get More Information Here.

Since this time, Gregory Aziz has dedicated his time as Chairman, CEO, and President of the company to creating a culture of which people are eager to return. He and the company are greatly appreciative of not only their amazing customers, who continue to support the National Steel Car, but the employees as well – who continue to move the company into a future of excellence and customer satisfaction.

Their dedication to the hospital is a direct result of the struggle they have with their first born who was born prematurely and as a result developed a neurological condition that left the child incapacitated. As they struggled to find answers, as well as seek out a medical facility to treat their child, the family sadly discovered there was very little research for the medical trauma they were facing. That drove Petrello and his wife to jump into the deep end of the research pool and work to fund research and hopefully an answer for their child.

All You Need To Know About The American Institute of Architect (AIA)

comdon
December 21, 2017

The American Institute of Architect (AIA) prides itself as the voice of all architectural professionals in the United States. Its headquarters are located in Washington, D.C., and it offers its members education, government advocacy, and support to help them improve their profession and public image. Robert Ivy, a renowned architect, is the current Executive Vice President and CEO of The American Institute of Architect (AIA).

History

The American Institute of Architect was launched in 1857 after a group of 13 architects, based in New York City, noticed that architects did not have an organization that would help them protect and improve their profession. The initial group was only made up of the 13 architects, with Richard Upjohn serving as the organization’s first President. The organization was up and running, but it was not as strong as they expected it to be. For this reason, Richard Upjohn called for a meeting, and they unanimously agreed to invite 16 other renowned architects to join them. The invitees included Calvert Vaux, Alexander Jackson Davis, and Thomas U. Walter.

Before the formation of the AIA, it was hard for people to differentiate between qualified and unqualified architects because there were no architecture institutions, architectural licensing laws, or regulation in the United States. After the 16 architects agreed to join the organization, they all met again on March 10, 1857, to draft a constitution and bylaws that would govern the organization. The organization was first called New York Society of Architects. A Philadelphian architect, Thomas Ustick Walter, later suggested the name to be changed to what it is today. Is the organization only for architects? Well, it was initially, but it now works for all members of the building industry such as designers and construction teams.  Follow AIA on twitter.com

Since its inception, the professional organization has attracted more than 90,000 approved architects and related professionals. All its members follow a code of professional conduct designed to ensure they offer their colleagues, clients, and the public exceptional services. There are five membership levels in the AIA. They include the following: Architect Members, Associate Members (Assoc. AIA), Emeritus Members, International Associate Member and Allied Members. The organization is headed by a Board of Director and employs more than 200 full-time employees.

The American Institute of Architects Is Reshaping The Way The World Approaches Architecture

comdon
November 6, 2017

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is a collective of architects that aims to help design a bright future for the United States and the world at-large. Throughout the years the group’s values have been steady, and their commitment to bettering the architectural world has remained the steady guiding hand that directs its efforts. The organization has been around for more than 160 years, and its members are the very people who build our hospitals, places of worship, buildings that we do business in, and much more. The AIA not only actively seeks to improve the state of architecture in the world through its own efforts but also seeks to voice its knowledge to governments who make the policies that can have an effect on the very fabric of our society’s constructed world. The AIA also does its best to educate the public and raise awareness of the value of architecture.

Some Important Details Related To The AIA

The AIA has over 90,000 members in its fold, all of whom are licensed architects and associated professionals. The group expects its members to follow a code of ethics that helps to guide their actions in the public and with their clients, and there are five levels of membership in the organization: Architect members, Associate members, International associate members, Emeritus members, and Allied members. There is also a student wing of the AIA called the American Institute of Architecture Students and these arms of the group can be found in many state and local chapters of the organization. The highest honor that the AIA imparts to any of its members is the mark of being a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA). This rank is granted to those architects who have made significant contributions to architecture on a national level.

Robert Ivy

Robert Ivy is the CEO and Executive Vice President of the AIA, and he helps to strengthen the organization by reaching out to the public, advocating its purpose and values, and helping to further educational initiatives that help build bridges between clients and architects. One of Robert’s best qualities is the fact that he is helping to make the group more proactive and responsive rather than only being an educational foundation. Robert was dubbed a Master Architect by the AIA and is only one of seven people to receive this honor. He is the only one to have received it, so far, in the 21st century. How Tony Petrello is Fighting for Neurological Research

comdon
July 16, 2017

Anthony “Tony” Petrello is best known as the CEO of Nabors Industries, one of the world’s largest providers of oil drilling equipment across the globe. However, he is also helping lead the fight to advance neurological research for children and is focused on bringing that innovative research to the Texas Children’s Hospital.

Tony Petrello and his wife, Cynthia, gave birth to their daughter Carena, who was born early at 24 weeks. Carena weighed only 20 ounces at the time and was diagnosed with periventricular leukomalacia or PVL. This neurological disease is, unfortunately, a common one that is need with infants born prematurely, as they often lack blood flow or oxygen to their bran at that early of a stage. Carena developed cerebral palsy which great impaired her development as well as many of her motor skills.

Both Cynthia and Tony Petrello are very hard working and driven people. To be faced with a problem that they could not solve and that the doctors could not solve was an extremely difficult struggle. But the couple vowed to do all they could to push neurological research forward. To date, they have donated a total of $7 million dollars to the Texas Childrens Institute Center for Neurological Research. They also donate their time and efforts to spearhead research in the community and to continue raising awareness. Their hope is to bring the latest and most advanced research and techniques to Texas.

If Tony Petrello’s drive in business is any indicator, that research push could become a reality. Petrello has always been known as incredibly driven. His college roommate even spoke about his calm and quiet drive and said he was the type of person that just continued to push himself no matter how high he climbed. Petrello joined Nabors Industries in 1991 after already pushing himself to become managing partner of an elite law firm’s New York office. To know more click here.
